SleepCloud study#
Sleep remains one of the greatest mysteries of human health and behavior. Do early birds and night owls really exist? Is full moon affecting your sleep quality? Will you sleep better if you jump to bed before midnight? How much snoring is too much? How much sleep do we need? Does it really help to have a smart alarm that wakes you up in the light sleep phase? Through the SleepCloud study, our community comes together to help uncover scientific insights into how we sleep.
The World’s Largest Sleep Study#
Millions of people track their sleep daily using Sleep as Android. Through SleepCloud), our companion app and web app for sleep data visualization, over 100,000 users have opted to anonymously contribute their sleep data to scientific research.
The result is the largest continuous sleep study in history. Because the SleepCloud community fuels it with real-world data every single night, the study continues to grow and evolve.
Big Questions We Are Answering#
Through crowd-sourced sleep data, the SleepCloud Study explores fundamental sleep questions, including:
- Chronotypes: Do “early birds” and “night owls” truly exist in biological data?
- Sleep Timing: Does going to bed before midnight actually improve sleep quality?
- Snoring & Apnea: How much snoring is normal, and when does it become a health concern?
- Sleep Duration: How many hours of sleep do different age groups and lifestyles really need?
- Smart Wakeup: Does waking up during light sleep phase actually reduce morning grogginess?
