Polyphasic sleeping#

Polyphasic sleep is the practice of sleeping in multiple shorter bursts over a 24-hour period, rather than one long block (monophasic sleep). Because these sessions are shorter and occur throughout the day, they require unique notification and goal settings.

Bedtime Notifications for Naps#

Normally, bedtime notifications are calculated globally based on your main alarm and daily sleep goal. For polyphasic sleepers, each individual nap needs its own specific reminder.

You can override the global defaults for any specific alarm to set a nap-specific duration and notification window.

Setting a per-alarm sleep goal only affects that specific alarm’s notifications; it does not change your overall Daily Sleep Duration Goal.

How to Set Up a Polyphasic Nap#

  1. Open the list of alarms and select the specific alarm you want to customize.
  2. Tap the Bedtime notification card.
  3. Uncheck Application settings (this is enabled by default).
  4. Set Duration: Use the slider or drop-down menu to set your sleep duration goal for this specific nap (ranging from 20 minutes to 13.5 hours).
  5. Adjust Reminder: Choose how many minutes before this bedtime you want to be notified.
  6. Tap Save at the bottom to confirm.
