Red gaps in the sleep graph#
Red gaps (or red vertical bars) on your sleep graph indicate periods where the app was unable to collect sensor data.
1. System Killing the App#
If the red gaps are large (hours long), the Android system likely killed the app in the background to “optimize” memory or battery.
- 👉 Fix: You must exclude Sleep as Android from battery optimization. Visit DontKillMyApp.com for manufacturer-specific steps.
2. Wearable Connection Drops#
If you track with a smartwatch, red gaps mean the Bluetooth connection between the watch and phone was lost.
- 👉 Fix:
- Ensure your watch companion app (e.g., Galaxy Wearable, Zepp, Garmin Connect) is also excluded from battery optimization.
- Keep your phone within Bluetooth range (usually the same room) throughout the night.
3. Sensor Issues#
If using Sonar or the Accelerometer, physical movement or environmental noise might have interrupted the signal.
- 👉 Fix: Check your Phone Placement and ensure the phone is on a stable surface.
