Sleep Assistant πŸ€–πŸ’¬#

Ever looked at your morning sleep graph and wondered, “Okay… but what does all of this actually mean for my day?” You’re not alone!

The Sleep Assistant is your friendly, personal sleep interpreter. It takes all the raw numbers, hypnograms, and night statistics that the app collects and translates them into simple, warm, easy-to-understand text summaries and practical tips.

Full Version Feature: Sleep Assistant is available exclusively in the Full (paid) version of Sleep as Android.

How Sleep Assistant Helps You#

Sleep tracking gathers thousands of tiny data points while you rest - from deep sleep cycles and awakenings to heart rate dips and snoring. While charts and graphs are wonderful for visual detail, reading them when you’re half-awake in the morning isn’t always easy!

The Sleep Assistant is here to make your mornings effortless:

  • πŸ’¬ Plain-Language Explanations: Turns complicated sensor charts into clear, friendly stories you can read in a few seconds.
  • πŸ” Personal Context: Compares your night against your own recent sleep baseline, letting you know what went great and what changed.
  • πŸ’‘ Practical Guidance: Can offer gentle, realistic suggestions to help you wind down better and wake up feeling refreshed.

Where to Find Sleep Assistant in the App#

You can ask the Sleep Assistant for insights whenever you’re curious:

  1. On Your Morning Briefing: Right after you stop sleep tracking, scroll down your morning summary screen to find the Sleep Assistant card for your fresh daily breakdown. (The Assistant automatically uses the Today topic as the default question on the Morning Screen!)
  2. On Any Saved Sleep Graph: Open any past sleep graph from your history and tap the Assistant icon to get an instant explanation of that night’s rest.
  3. In the Main Menu ☰: Open the Left ☰ Menu βž” Sleep Assistant anytime to catch up on your recent sleep trends.

How the Sleep Assistant Works#

Getting insights from the Sleep Assistant is simple, friendly, and structured in two easy steps:

Step 1: Pick a Starter Topic#

Whenever you open the Assistant, choose whichever starter question fits what you’re curious about today:

Topic Question Prompt What It Tells You
Briefly “Summarize my sleep quality” Gives you a quick summary of your overall sleep qualities.
Today
(Default on Morning Screen)
“How did I sleep today?” Gives you a detailed morning breakdown of your latest sleep depth, awakenings, and rest. This is the default question automatically selected when opening the Assistant card on your Morning Briefing!
Sleep Score “Explain my Sleep Score” Breaks down your sleep score pillars (duration, deep sleep %, efficiency, regularity, and heart rate) in plain language.
Community “How do I sleep compared to others?” Compares your average sleep stats against general benchmarks.

Step 2: Ask a Follow-up Question#

Once the Assistant answers your starter question, you can type one follow-up question if you’d like to explore a topic a little deeper!

πŸ’‘ Fun Follow-up Ideas:

  • “How can I lower my snoring?”
  • “What is a good, relaxing bedtime routine?”
  • “Why was my deep sleep a bit lower?”

Privacy & Data Security#

Your trust and privacy mean everything to us. Sleep Assistant is designed from the ground up to keep your personal life private:

  • Active User Initiation Only: The Sleep Assistant is completely passive. It never runs automatically in the background or processes anything until you tap a question.
  • No Personal Data Shared: The app never collects, shares, or transmits personal identifying details.
  • Aggregated Sleep Metrics Only: Only anonymous, non-personal numerical totals (such as total sleep hours, deep sleep percentages, and average heart rate) are used to craft your text summaries.
  • Stored on Your Device: Your sleep records and history remain safely stored locally on your phone.
